The Minnesota Vietnam Veterans Memorial (MVVM) was achieved through many years of work by the MVVM Board of Directors, and dozens of other volunteers.

There were two early goals of the memorial;
1) The memorial would honor and recognize all Minnesotans (68,000) who served in Vietnam, especially those who were killed (1,077) and those who are missing in action (43).
2) The memorial would be built by the people of Minnesota.
